Peter King (CEO)
Peter is an experienced mental health professional and company director who has been involved in a number of not-for-profit, government and private health services. Peter has provided leadership to Allan and Xavier in setting up the Unity Foundation to assist the youth of our community.
In his role as Chief Executive Officer, Peter will continue to be actively involved in forming and shaping a compelling vision for the Unity Foundation. Peter works closely with Allan and Xavier to consistently present the Unity Foundation and its mission, programs, products and services in strong, positive images to relevant stakeholders and the general public. Peter is also responsible to the role of managing paid and volunteer staff according to approved personnel policies and procedures that are consistent with current laws and regulations.
Allan Murray (Operations Manager)
Allan is a former AFL Footballer with the St.Kilda Football Club and has, along with Xavier Clarke, set up the Unity Foundation to assist the youth of our community. Allan has been supported and encouraged by his family to work in the Indigenous Community from a young age. Over the past 7 years Allan has worked with young people through various sporting and community organisations.
On the 8th August 2006, Allan was named Aboriginal Young Achiever for 2006. Allan was presented with the award by Aboriginal Affairs Minister Gavin Jennings who said "Allan is a leader in his community and shows a strong commitment to young indigenous people".
At Unity Foundation, Allan's focus is operational management of Unity Foundation programs and maintain relationships between Unity Foundation, our supporters, sponsors and partners. Allan works closely with our CEO and consultative committee in maintaining and developing relationships which enhance Unity's ability to assist young people in our community.
Xavier Clarke (Director)
Xavier is an AFL footballer with the St.Kilda Football Club and has, along with Allan Murray, set up the Unity Foundation to assist the youth of our community. Xavier has been supported and encouraged by his family to work in the Indigenous Community beginning in Darwin from a young age. Over the past 5 years Xavier has worked with young people through various sporting and community organisations.
On the 16th September 2005, Xavier was judged the winner of the 2005 AFL Community Leadership Award. The award recognises an AFL player who has shown outstanding leadership and excellence in making a voluntary commitment to the community and charitable organisations during 2005. Xavier was also runner-up in 2004.
Xavier's focus for Unity is to provide leadership and an general perspective for Unity's early intervention and prevention programs including breakfast club, life skills program, leadership based programs and homelessness program. Xavier works closely with our program manager, development staff at the St.Kilda Football Club, health professionals and university lectures to ensure Unity programs are current and continue to meet the needs of the young people we support.
Aunty Carolyn Briggs (Elder of the Boonwurrung People)
Aunty Carolyn helped establish the first Aboriginal child care centre in Dandenong in the 1970s, the Dja Dja Wrung Aboriginal Cooperative in Bendigo, and a large number of other community organisations.
Aunty Carolyn has played a significant role in the struggle for recognition and rights for the Boonwurrung people, which culminated in the first indigenous land use agreement for the Melbourne area. She has also made substantial contribution to indigenous arts through her involvement with the Ilbijerri ATSI Theatre Cooperative and as a patron of the innovative Somebody's Daughter Theatre Company.
Aunty Carolynhas also made a very personal contribution to the welfare of indigenous people in Victoria. She was one of three Victorian Investigators into Aboriginal Deaths in Custody and, as well as raising her own family, has acted as a foster parent for older indigenous children. She has also worked to provide culturally appropriate services at the Royal Women's Hospital.
Aunty Pam Pedersen (Elder of the Koorie Court & Victorian Aboriginal Health Service)
Lionel Gonsalves (CEO, Cashflow Community)
Lionel is an International Entrepreneur who has many years experience in a variety of roles including accredited Mortgage Broking, Master NLP Practitioner, Master Ericksonian Hypnosis Practitioner, Executive Coach, Corporate Trainer, Property Investor, Wellness Practitioner, Commercial Sales Manager within the Automotive Industry, Restaurant Owner and Manager Voice Products for Telecom.
Lionel's current role is CEO of Cashflow Community, an International company that provides rewards and payment solutions connecting businesses to the community. Cashflow Community helps generate independent recurring incomes for corporations and social enterprises, including Charities, Schools, and Clubs.
Lionel's role on Unity's committee of management is to offer support, advice and direction regarding opportunities and sponsorship from the corporate sector.
