Three C's Program
Our Life Skills Programs are
four-week courses conducted by an elite athlete who acts as facilitator in conjunction with a classroom teacher in secondary schools. What makes this program significantly different from other sessional visits from athletes is that the structured nature of this primary prevention program is more effective in achieving the long term goals of stopping deviant behaviours and promoting tolerance. This initiative is supported through partnerships with RMIT University, the St.Kilda Football Club, Melbourne Storm and Rio Tinto.
INTRODUCTION SESSION: Our program facilitators meet the students, teachers and year level coordinators to introduce the program and set up the structure of sessions in the coming four weeks. Students are introduced to "What it means and why do we need to make decisions?"
WEEK 1: To learn a model for effective decision making and practice using this model in small groups
WEEK 2: To practice applying the decision making model
WEEK 3: To predict the consequences of certain decisions and how they may affect future life plans.
WEEK 4: To practice resisting influences and following through with decisions.
